7 eleven

7 Elevens are all over Japan and were a good respite from the newness of all of the shops and restaurants that were not American. Even in the mountain areas, there were 7 elevens, which we used to buy noodle cups, beers, and breakfast food. Our breakfasts most of the time like this ended up being chicken cutlet dogs, rice balls, and coffees in a can.

The prices were usually pretty good, and all of them had ATMs that we could use if we ever ran out of money, which we didn't fortunately. We had some big denomination Yen bills, and no one ever batted an eye at us for breaking them at the register. Also, the stores were really clean inside and the people working there spoke pretty good English.
